This month you'll find fun things to do all over the Cape, both indoors and out ... something for every member of the family. So come and enjoy!!

Fish ... running? Yes, indeed! And they climb ladders, too!!
We see these amazing feats every spring when thousands of herring migrate from the wide-open ocean to our local rivers, streams, lakes and ponds to spawn.

It's time again for the oldest and largest flea market on Cape Cod!
The Sandwich Bazaar takes place Wednesdays and Sundays from April to October and hosts vendors with everything from local produce to hand-crafted jewelry to organic dog treats.

activities and participate in an award ceremony.

A “compositional rebel” and great romantic, Beethoven rejected standard classical practices to write with relentless emotion, inspiring many of history’s most famous composers to follow suit.
This all-Beethoven program is highlighted by the great “Leonore” Overture, and a culminating performance of his epic Symphony No. 5.
Ticketholders are invited to get to know the guest conductor, who is a candidate to be Cape Symphony's next Music Director, at a Q&A session led by Assistant Conductor Joe Marchio. These sessions begin one hour prior to each Masterpiece Series concert.

Whale watching officially gets underway this week as Dolphin Fleet opens their 2025 season. (Hyannis Whale Watcher cruises' opening day isn't until mid-May.)
Although it'll still be a little chilly on the water in April, the boats' cabins are climate controlled. So you'll be plenty comfy.
And whales don't mind the cold water temps. They'll be out there "putting on the feed bag" and showing off for you!

Do you have an animal lover in the family? Or maybe a budding scientist? Cape Cod Museum of Natural History has special April school vacation week events just for them!
This year's events include guided family field walks; Mixology: Chemistry for Kids; performances by Trevor the Juggler; screening of the film "Octopus: Making Contact"; and an awe-inspiring, inflatable gray whale to walk through and explore from the inside out!

Does a special child in your life love fairy tales and nature? This event is for them!
Children aged 7-11 are invited to Fuller Farm to spend the morning creating their own magical Fairy House.
Kids will be guided into the forest to collect materials, then head back to the barn to construct their Fairy Houses. (You can bring some supplies if you like, but remember when collecting to take only items that have fallen to the ground, not ones that are currently attached to plants or trees!)
Refreshments will be provided. Come dressed for a fun time in the great outdoors!
*Note: This is one of many wonderful programs offered by Barnstable Land Trust during the month of April in celebration of Earth Month 2025.

Put on your dancin' shoes for this fun event at Preservation Hall!
Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. No fancy footwork needed – if you can walk, you can dance! (All the dances are taught and called. If you're new to contra dance, be sure to get in on the early dances for the basic moves.)
Everyone is welcome at this family friendly event, from total beginners to expert dancers. Bring a partner, or come solo. There are plenty of friendly people in this welcoming dance community!

Opening day at Heritage is always a welcome event - a sure sign that winter is finally in our rear-view mirror.
Nothing says "Welcome to Spring!" like a few hours spent wandering through Heritage's many acres of gardens, alive in colorful, early-season blooms.
Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to visit the gallery buildings filled with fabulous American Art, classic vintage autos, and special exhibitions. The kids will have a blast exploring Hidden Hollow, too!

This whimsical afternoon event celebrates the opening of Atwood Museum's new exhibit, "A Place to Hang Your Hat!".
Don your best springtime, tea party apparel and come indulge in delectable scones, delicate sandwiches, a variety of teas, and delightful camaraderie.
After sitting and sipping, the tea party will end with a quick tour of the Museum's new exhibit featuring historic, fanciful hats. Attendees will leave with a small token by which to remember the festivities!

Cape Cod Beer has teamed up with Veteran’s Lunch Box and Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center to host dinner with a veteran and thank them for their service!
The dinner will feature an all-you-can-eat pasta buffet from Veteran’s Lunch Box, including spaghetti, meatballs, garlic sticks, and salad. Also, Cape Cod Beer will offer craft beer, wine, cider, specialty cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase.
Bring a veteran as your "plus one". Or you can choose to donate your veteran meal, and the Cape and Island Veterans Outreach Center will invite veterans in the community to come and enjoy a meal.
Not able to attend? You can still contribute to this worthy cause by purchasing a meal for a vet for $15.
All proceeds from this event will support the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center which provides essential services and supportive programs to veterans, aiding in their reintegration into family and community life.
