Searching for accessible Cape Cod hotels, resorts and inns can be a time-consuming task. But it need not be!
Whether you or your travel companion needs a full range of mobility or hearing accessibility, or you're simply looking for accommodations

* IMPORTANT! *
I've done my best to "vet" the hotels, resorts and inns you'll see on this page. I've visited each of them, spoken with managers and/or staff, and asked a lot of questions.
In some (but not all) cases, if an
accessible guest room was unoccupied when I was there, I was
given a quick peek inside the room to see its accessibility features for myself.
But the bottom line is: you know what you or your traveling companion needs. I don't. So ...
** It's absolutely critical that you do your own research!
Before you make your reservation, contact the hotel, resort or inn directly (via its local phone number) to verify for yourself that the the type of room, bed style/height, bathroom features, and other amenities will be exactly what you need!!

I've put this popular, family-friendly hotel at the top of the list for a few reasons:
For those who prefer a king-sized bed, Four Points has those, too.
Bathrooms have a roll-in shower with fold-down seat, grab bars, an adjustable shower wand; wheelchair-height toilet with grab bars; and an open-base sink.

Fairfield's wheelchair-accessible guest rooms have a king-sized bed with platform frame, roll-in shower or accessible tub with grab bars, and raised-height toilet with grab bars.
Hearing accessible rooms are available, as are rooms with both mobility and hearing-assistive features.

Aiden by Best Western Cape Point is a cool, "boutique-style" hotel that opened for business in August 2019 on the site of the former Cape Pointe. (To those of us who've known the old Cape Point for decades, the Aiden upgrade is nothing short of mind-blowing!)
King rooms have one king-sized bed and a roll-in shower or accessible bathtub.
Aiden's "ADA Queen" room has two queen-sized beds and a roll-in shower.
Bathrooms have grab bars for the shower/tub/toilet, hand-held adjustable shower wand, and raised toilet seat.
Other amenities at Aiden include:

Planning to sightsee around the Cape? Hoping to take a day-trip to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard while you're here?
Holiday Inn is convenient to Route 6 (a/k/a "the Mid-Cape Highway") and Route 28 - two primary roads that run from one end of Cape Cod to the other. It's also just a few miles from downtown Hyannis for shopping, dining, entertainment and the island ferry piers.
Accessible guest rooms are king bed only.
In the room I visited, the bathroom had a roll-in shower with grab bars, an adjustable hand-held shower and removable bench, along with a raised toilet. Other rooms have a bathtub with grab bars and seat.
Other amenities at the Holiday Inn in Hyannis include:

Courtyard's wheelchair accessible bedrooms have king beds (no queens).
Bathrooms have roll-in shower with grab bars, removable seat, and adjustable hand-held shower wand. There are grab bars for the toilet, too.
Hearing-accessible guest rooms are also available.

This hotel has all the amenities you've come to expect from the DoubleTree brand, plus it's conveniently located near the airport and just a few minutes from downtown Hyannis and the harbor.
Accessible bedrooms include kings and doubles. Bathrooms have roll-in shower or accessible tub, raised-height toilet, all with grab bars.
In-room visual alerts can be set up on request for guests with hearing impairments.
Other amenities at DoubleTree include:
Note: The layout of this hotel is kind of spread out. If you or your travel companion uses a walker or a cane or is easily "winded" when walking, be sure to confirm that you'll have a room near the lobby.

This full-service, family friendly resort's beautiful, private beach is just one of many things that makes Sea Crest a popular choice with Cape Cod vacationers.
Mobility and hearing accessible guest rooms are outfitted with king-size or double beds.
Bathrooms have a bathtub or roll-in shower and raised toilet, all with grab bars, and a lowered vanity.
Note: Sea Crest is a large hotel with a somewhat rambling layout. Also, accessing the beach requires navigating a few stairs or using the ramp near the water sports area. Please be sure to take these factors into consideration if you or your travel mate uses a mobility aid or has difficulty getting around on foot.

Chatham Bars Inn is the "grand lady" of Cape Cod resorts. Built in the early 1900s, she still retains her classic charm - even with the many additions and upgrades she's had over the last century.
If you're looking for quintessential Cape Cod elegance in a full-service resort, CBI could be the place for you!
Disability friendly accommodations at Chatham Bars include rooms in the historic Main Inn, as well as oceanview cottage rooms.
Bedrooms have a king-sized bed or two queens.
Bathrooms are equipped with a roll-in shower or a bathtub with portable seat, lowered sink, and grab bars for shower/bath and toilet.

149 Main Street
Sandwich, MA 02563
Local Phone: (508) 888-3622
Set in the heart of Sandwich Village, Dan'l Webster Inn is one of the Cape's historic gems - dating back before the American Revolutionary War.
Bringing this lovely Inn into the 21st century, two rooms have been equipped with a number of accessibility features.
The queen-bed room on the first floor has a lowered bed and nightstand, a bathtub with built-in bench, grab bars, and an adjustable hand-held shower wand, and a toilet with grab bars.
The king-bed suite on the second floor (accessed by elevator) also has a lowered bed and nightstands. Bathroom amenities include a roll-in shower with hand-held shower wand and portable seat ... and a whirlpool tub that's lowered with a flat front and no stairs, allowing for easy entry.
Note: The king-bed suite's shower
and toilet are equipped with grab bars, but I didn't notice any for the
whirlpool. Perhaps they've been added since my visit to the Inn, or maybe plans are in the works to add them at a future date.
In any event,
if you have your heart set on using the in-room whirlpool, be sure to
ask about grab bars before you make your reservation!

Every now and then I see lodging reviews from vacationers who complain about being charged a fee or penalty for cancelling their reservation or cutting their stay short.
The reviewer usually says something along the lines of it's "not fair" or management "lacks compassion".
Believe me, I empathize. It's never a happy time when you're forced to change your vacation plans at the last minute - especially when it's for health reasons.
But please understand, it's not a happy time for the lodging owner/management, either - especially in a place like Cape Cod where our "season" is so short and every night of vacancy is lost revenue.
What's the solution?
* ALWAYS expect that a hotel, resort or inn's cancellation policy will be strictly enforced!!! *
If there's even the slightest chance that you might have to cancel after the allowed deadline has passed or that you might have to cut your stay short ... purchase travel insurance! Otherwise, you assume the risk of losing your deposit - and maybe more.
Do you know of an accessible Cape Cod hotel, resort or inn that I've missed? Please let me know! I'll be happy to check it out and add it to this page - if it's truly disability friendly.
