Dear Visitors:
You've arrived at the page I've dreaded writing.
No. Not because I don't want to tell you about myself. But because I haven't been able to find a photo that I like well enough to post along with my personal introduction.
(Other than my wedding portrait. That's a really good photo - but not exactly what I have in mind for this page!)
So, until I find a better pic to post, here's a photo of me with my pals Devon and Logan, my niece and nephew. We're standing on the roof deck of the Nantucket Whaling Museum, on one of our many day trips around Cape Cod and the Islands. Okay. Formalities over ... |
Now it's time to let you all in on who I am and why I've created this website.
I'll spare you the: "I was born in a one-horse Pennsylvania town" part of my story, and fast-forward to today. (Actually, we had 5 horses, and our neighbors had horses, too ... But I digress.)
My name is Dee - a shortened version of my given name, Doné .
I'm the crazy lady who took on the enormous task of creating a website with absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about anything computer related. Big learning curve, to be sure!
I'm also the crazy lady you'll see traipsing all over Cape Cod, camera hanging around her neck and extra batteries in her shorts pocket, snapping photos of everything in sight ... and walking up to complete strangers in parking lots, asking about their experiences at local restaurants or whether they think their lodging is worth the price they paid.
Of course, my husband (the wonderful and incredibly tolerant Richard), wants to crawl under the shrubbery when I do that.
To be sure, over our many years on Cape Cod, Richard and I have found our own favorite places to go, things to do, and restaurants to frequent when I don't feel like cooking - which is most of the time!
But I realize that not everyone likes the same things we like. So, if I'm going to give you the best possible scoop on Cape Cod, I need to find out what other people like and don't like, too.
Thus, the crazy lady talking to strangers, while her husband hides in the shrubbery pretending he doesn't know her :-)
Of course, from the minute I started this project I knew that mine wouldn't be the only Cape Cod travel site out there. Far from it.
With so many other sites about the Cape, all much bigger and fancier than I could ever hope to make, the question became: "What can I offer that the big, fancy sites don't?"
A real person's guide to Cape Cod vacations.
With that inspiration, I set out to create the ultimate Cape Cod tourism guide.
Tons of networking and research, talking with restaurant managers, tour providers, owners of summer rental homes, hotels, motels and inns - that's what I do, so I can give you the most comprehensive and up-to-date information possible.
Oh, yeah ...
I also get out and about to lots of local events, activities and attractions all over the Cape. That way, I can tell you first-hand about the ones that are, in my humble opinion, worth making time for while you're here.
As I hope you can tell from perusing the pages of this site, my Cape Days guide is a labor of love for me.
I'm not a travel agent, and I'm not affiliated with any travel agency or organization. It's just little ol' me, offering you my personal insights about a place my hubby and I are fortunate to call our second home.
If you have questions while planning your Cape Cod getaway, or if you'd like to offer suggestions for additions or improvements to my Cape Days guide ... please don't hesitate to contact me. I'll get back to you just as soon as I can.
Thanks for visiting, and happy travels!
Best Regards,
Doné ("Dee") Young
