UPDATE: December 13, 2012
This coming summer (2013), you'll be able to travel between Boston and Cape Cod by train.
It's a great transportation option that's long overdue, IMHO. No traffic hassles, reasonably priced fares, and a scenic trip. What more could you ask for?!
Here's a link to more about the new "CapeFlyer" passenger train service.
Question: Can you get from Plymouth or Sandwich by train to Boston?

Hi Georgeanne -
Currently there's no passenger train service from Sandwich to Boston.
However, there is commuter rail service between Plymouth and Boston via the MBTA. Plymouth is just a short drive or bus ride from Sandwich, so you might want to try that option.
Take a look at the MBTA's website (www.mbta.com) for details about the Plymouth/Boston commuter rail service.
Hope this helps!
